Workforce Engagement through Department-wide Committees

All four department-wide committees will meet at least eight times each fiscal year.

Why is this important?

DPH staff have the opportunity to participate in any of our four advisory committees. Committees are staff-driven and provide recommendations to DPH Administration to advance workforce development efforts, improve department operations, and improve quality of public health services available to the public. 
Currently, there are four department-wide committees:
  • Workforce Development
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Health Equity
  • Performance Management

What are we working on?

All committees meet at least once a month. Committees are facilitated by co-chairs and are led by an executive advisor. The executive advisor is the liaison between the committee and executive staff/administration. The following are activities or initiatives the committees are/have worked on:
  • Annual diversity event
  • DPH Mentoring Program
  • Open performance and data management website, HealthStat
  • Health equity training
  • Quality improvement training
  • Workforce assessments
  • Development of plans (Workforce Development Plan, Quality Improvement Plan)

How are we doing?

All committees have been meeting every month with the exception of the Health Equity Committee. The Health Equity Committee is currently meeting once a quarter until the County's Health Assessment is completed and provides direction to the committee to address health equity issues. It will resume its monthly meeting schedule after this is completed.
