Participation in Community Events
Increase participation in community events by 10% every year by June 30, 2021.
Why is this important?
Community events are great opportunities for DPH staff to meet and engage with members of the community. These events can be health and resource fairs, career fairs, pet adoption fairs or other events where people come to get information about available resources and services. Tracking engagement efforts in the community is important to help our department ensure that we are reaching out to as many people as possible and that no communities are under-served.
What are we working on?
To better track our efforts and share information with all the health educators in our programs, we created a calendar on SharePoint, a web-based collaborative platform. Previously, events were tracked on an Excel spreadsheet and stored on a server that was sometimes difficult to access by health educators. The SharePoint site provides easier accessibility as well as easier use and flexibility. Our objective is to increase attendance at community events by ten percent (10%) by June 30. By reducing technical barriers and promoting this new tool among the health educators in our department, this objective should be easily met by the deadline. Better data will allow us to see if we need to shift our attention and focus to certain areas of the county, or reach out to the community in different ways.
How are we doing?
Currently, we are tracking the event type, logistics, contact information, attendees and notes. The goal is to increase our participation in community events by 10% based off of the last fiscal year.
